plastic love

i hit the jackpot yesterday.

i found these great toys at a local discount store that sells items from liquidations, overstocks, and old warehouse stock. all of the toys pictured here were selling for under a dollar each, so naturally i couldn't resist purchasing them for my vintage collection.

some are marked with a copyright of 1985 (i still can't believe 80's is considered vintage these days...i feel so freakin' old!), and most of them are marked "made in hong kong for famus corporation in brooklyn, new york." (yes, it does say famus, not famous.)

my favorites are the tiny tiger metal tea set and the travel kit (with the pan am airline boarding pass/ticket cover!! how totally old school is that!?)

baby blue

i finally started crocheting my first baby blanket for project linus. i purchased the 'pound of love' yarn to make this. (i've never worked with such a huge ball of yarn before. it's the size of a small watermelon. or a small blue furry mammal. haha.) according to the pattern i'm using, the finished blanket is estimated to be 34 x 34 inches. i've crocheted about four inches so far. i will post photos of the blanket once i've completed it.

project linus is a non-profit organization that distributes handmade blankets to children in need.

feeling blue over gray

today i found my first gray hair.*

  

* it was a short, silver white hair. i immediately freaked out** upon seeing it. and then i did what any sensible woman would do...i yanked the damn thing out of my head!

** there's really no reason for me to worry about a little white strand. since my hair is already very thin, i'll probably go bald before i turn completely gray. ;)
